Pokeuman story: 'Changing Colors'

Chapter 1: Like a Ninja

It was a normal school day.  It was the second class of the day, Algebra/Geometry and we were working on some Quadratic Function problems. Oh, before I forget, let me introduce myself. My name's Marie, and I'm 16-years-old. After I worked on a few of the problems, I asked to go and get a drink of water, because I had started getting a huge headache.  I took a long drink of water before heading back to the classroom. The headache was didn't go away, but it was at least bearable for the rest of the day. The rest of the school day went by pretty quickly, faster than usual. Finally it was the end of the day, and it was time to go home. It was Friday, so I was able to play video games, which I wasn't able to do during the week because of school and a bunch of homework I had. I decided to play my Pokemon Ruby version and train some of my Pokémon.

When I got home, I tossed my backpack on the floor and put my laptop on a counter. I went up to my room to get my DS and Ruby version. I put it in my DS and turned it on, and selected the 'button' for playing the GBA game. I skipped the intro and started to play. The last place I saved was 118; I was looking for a Kecleon for my team. I ran around in the tall grass for a while and then eventually I found a wild Kecleon. It was a blue Kecleon instead of a normal, green one. When I pressed attack, instead of the moves being there, they said 'LOOK IN THE MIRROR.' Alright, that must be a weird glitch or something in the game, so I pressed the 'B' button and pressed 'ATTACK' again just to be sure, and it still said 'LOOK IN THE MIRROR.' Well, it's obviously telling me to look in the mirror, so I went to my bathroom and looked in the mirror. Staring straight back at me was a blue Kecleon, one that looked exactly in the game. I looked at my arms, they were like a Kecleons; I felt the top of my head and felt zigzag ear like things. The blue Pokemon in the mirror was following my movements. My jaw dropped; I had turned into a Kecleon!
--
I woke up to my buzzing alarm clock. I put my pillow over my head so I wouldn't hear it, even though it kept buzzing. I eventually gave up and turned it off.

'Well… that was an interesting dream,' I thought as I sat up, staring at the wall. Then I laughed at myself. 'Turning into a blue Kecleon, like that's ever going to happen. Pokémon don't even exist in real life. It would be cool if they did, but they don't.' It was Saturday, and I didn't have school today. I checked to see what time it was, 8:00 am. I always got up early, even on the weekends, I'm not sure why though. It must be because I'm so used to getting up early to go to band. Well anyway, that didn't really matter. There was more time to do stuff, such as watching live streams, drawing, playing video games, writing, or reading. I decided to draw. For some weird reason, I had the urge to draw Kecleons. I'm not sure why though, probably because of my dream I had.

I got my sketchbook, sat down on my bed, and started to draw doodles of the Pokémon, chibi ones, fighting ones, and happy ones. My cat jumped on my bed and lay on my back. Cutie, my cat, began randomly swatting at my head. I waved my hand to stop her from doing that, but when I did that I felt something. I went over to my mirror to check, and on the top of my head were pale yellow, zigzag ears, just like a Kecleons. "This isn't happening, I must be seeing things, or dreaming again."

I was then called downstairs because we were going to go get some Starbucks Coffee, which I had asked yesterday if we could go there over the weekend.  Just before we left, the doorbell rang. When I went to check, it was just the mailman delivering the mail. As he walked back to his mail truck, he quickly looked back at me with a strange expression. He then quickly ran back to the truck to get something.

'He's probably retrieving a package that he forgot to give us.' At least that's what I thought. Unfortunately, as I was walking towards my Dad's car, he came out with what looked like a… wait, was that a spray can? He wasn't going to spray graffiti all over our house was he? That's a stupid idea; he wouldn't do that when I'm right here, or in bright day light. He then came over to me and put the spray can in front of my face.
"You're one of them," That was the last thing I before seeing dark, purple spray, or clouds I couldn't exactly tell, sprayed in my eyes.
--
I woke up to a loud crash. Some boxes had fallen down next to me. I tried to stand up, but I was tied up in chains. Barely able to move around, I just sat there tapping my fingers, trying to figure out what was going on. Well, it obvious that I was tied up, but where was I, in the back of a van? If so, then the driver was driving in a hurry, well, it seemed that way because the boxes kept on sliding around.

The van came to a screeching halt. I unintentionally rammed to the side of wall. My head began to feel dizzy, but I shook it and it got better. The door to the back flew open, and out of nowhere, a string of web shot through the opening onto my arm.

"EEeghaah!!!!!" I tried to brush it off. I hated the feeling of spider webs, and I also hated spiders, they creep me out. I had a huge fear of spiders, and I certainly did not want one to crawl on my arm right now, but despite my wishes a giant yellow spider clang onto the side of the door. I screeched but then I stopped, the large spider looked strangely like one of the fifth generation bug Pokémon, Galvantula. "Hey um, are you..?"

The large spider responded, "A Gavantula? Yes, I am. Actually, I was a human before, but enough chit-chat. I've got to get you out of here. Watch out." He cut the net and flung me on his back. "Hey, I noticed that you have Kecleon ears, can you camouflage?"

"Wait, camouflage, what do you mean?" But then I had a random thought of how chameleons were able to blend into their environment, and as soon as that thought left my mind, I had turned the same colors of the Gavantula. "You mean like this?"

"Yeah, like that, perfect. Now we'll have a slim chance of getting caught. I know where you are, but that's only because I'm carrying you. Others won't be able to see you."
He had been crawling along the side of buildings very quickly for a while, but then I remembered to ask him something. "Hey, what's your name by the way? Also, what did you mean that you were human before?"

"You want to know my name? My name is Christopher. I turned into a Gavantula when I was 19. I'm 25 now, so I've been a Gavantula for six years. Oh yeah, and you and I are, and others like us, called Pokéumans, but I'll explain that later when we get to the base. That is going to take a while, so you're going to have to sit tight until we get there."
Thankfully, I managed to camouflage us both, now there wouldn't be people screaming and running from a huge gigantic spider running across the buildings of cities and other that we passed through. It was a long ride, and I was getting tired. "How long until we get there Chris?"

"Not so long, just a few more hours. If you're tired, then you can take a nap while I get us there."

"Okay.." I stretched and lay down on Chris's back. I closed my eyes and fell asleep, but my nap was interrupted by a zap of electricity. "Hey, what was that for Chris?!"

"Hush! We've been spotted!" Chris said with an annoyed tone. "Your camouflage wore off as soon as you fell asleep, and now because of that, we're being chased by a couple of Pokéxtinction thugs. Now camouflage us back and stay awake until we get there!"

"Ughuuuh… fine… you didn't have to zap me though.." I camouflaged us both again. Apparently I had to stay awake so the effect wouldn't ware off. "How much longer is it until we get there, Chris?"

"Half an hour, but we need to deal with these guys so they don't reach the base," Chris stopped running and stood his ground. The Pokéxtinction guys surrounded us, well there weren't many of them, but still, we didn't want these guys to get us. "Get off of me so you don't get shocked"

I quickly got off of Chris's back like he told me to, and I stood behind him. Sparks of electricity surrounded him, and he jumped onto several of the thugs and spun a web with the electricity on them, jumped off, and watched them get electrocuted. I decided to help him, using moves from Taekwondo I knew. I was a black belt after all, so might as well put what I learned to use. I was of course, still camouflaged, so the thugs couldn't tell where I was. I attacked each one that was after me with several punches, back kicks, round house kicks, and combinations that I could remember. They attacked back of course, so I tried my best to block there moves.

Eventually they were all defeated. I leapt onto Chris's back and he ran towards the base. My heart was beating fast. I didn't expect to be that tired after fighting two or three thugs. I needed to rest.

After another hour or so, we reached the base. "Well, were here." Chris said as we walked up to the entrance.
Welp, I believe that this has been the longest, non school-related thing I've ever written in my life xD

Anyway, this is the first chapter of my pokeuman story, and I hope that it's good.

I like it! It's full of adventure, but I would a little more of what Marie's feeling. She just turned into a Pokeuman. Is she freaked? Is she accepting of that fact? What does she think about the Pokéxtinction thugs?
